- Evaporators
The C. E. Rogers Company has designed, installed and successfully commissioned
many Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) evaporator systems for processors
with access to a favorable electrical rate structure. The basis for MVR design
is the use of a mechanical compressor instead of a steam thermocompressor.
This mechanical compressor is most commonly driven with an electric motor.
Utilization of the mechanical compressor substantially reduces steam requirements
as well as cooling water demand.
Evaporation by means of mechanical recompression can be more cost effective
than TVR evaporation. The MVR design used for pre-concentration (before entering
an evaporator for high solids concentration) in place of a membrane system
is highly efficient and requires very little maintenance. The high efficiency
of a C. E. Rogers MVR Evaporator System can make an important contribution
to your energy savings program.
With an MVR evaporator system efficiencies can run as high as 200 lb of water
evaporated per kwh (roughly the equivalent of 25 lb water evaporated per lb
steam with a TVR evaporator).
C. E. Rogers MVR Evaporator Systems can be designed for rates from under 20,000
